Adoption Visa (Subclass 102)

Children who are adopted or about to be adopted by an Australian citizen or permanent resident, or an eligible citizen of New Zealand are allowed to live in the country under the conditions of the Adoption Visa (subclass 102).

Typically, an adoptive parent submits the application on the child’s behalf and is in charge of accepting the sponsorship. Submit the visa application before the adoption being finalized in case the adoption authority of a state or territory is adopting a child.

• The visa permits you to live, study, and work in Australia for an extended length of time
• You can obtain health coverage via Medicare, the Australian public healthcare for medical bills and care
• You can apply for Australian citizenship if you are eligible
• You can bring eligible family members to move in permanently
• After your visa grant, you have five years to travel back and forth Australia

• The applicant must be at least 18 years old
• You have to be the adoptive parent of the child or must have a plan to adopt them
• You must be an Australian citizen, a permanent residency holder, or an eligible citizen of New Zealand
• You have to adopt a child or gone through the adoption process through an Australian state or territory adoption agency
