Assessment

We understand your personal & professional goals

This is where YOU play the most important role. We assess your educational qualification, aspirations, skill-sets and experience, if any. Some other obvious considerations to make are your interests, mode of study, the city you wish to live in, program affordability, etc. Here are some of the most common questions we may ask you:
  • Is there a match between your desired qualification & professional goals?
  • Are you considering to migrate to Australia after your studies? If yes, does your course enable you to be on the skilled immigration list?
  • What visa category do you qualify for?
  • Does your level of English meet the requirements of the course or university?
  • What is your current visa status?
  • What are your study options and providers that suit you the most?

Study Options

Discussing best suitable study options and providers

Once we assess your personal and professional goals, the next step is to discuss the universities and institutes that offer desired career pathways and evaluating which ones you qualify for. Discussion and evaluation may include the following:
  • Evaluating whether you should choose a degree or a vocational course in the city you wish to live in.
  • Which institutions are best suited for you and why?
  • How many hours you can work and what study schedules suit you.
  • Discussing the payment options (for course) based on your financial considerations and available scholarships.

GTE Assistance

Assistance with GTE requirement

The Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) requirement is an integrity measure to ensure that the Student Visa Program is used as intended and not used by the international students as a way to get de facto permanent residency in Australia. To address the GTE criteria, it is very crucial to maintain your Australian student visa; and a professional counsellor is the one who knows the pitfalls and can guide you towards taking the right decision for career and life in Australia. Here are some of the key recommendations we give to students applying for student visa/extension are:
  • Ensure you are meeting your school’s attendance criteria at all times.
  • Make sure you are focussing on the course and getting acceptable grades every semester. If you repeatedly abandon the courses you are enrolled in, DIBP has good reason to believe that you are doing so to stay in Australia rather than for genuine purpose of academics.
  • Be very mindful when switching courses. Don’t switch to a course because it’s cheaper or your friends are studying it. You can be under scrutiny if DIBP feels the course choices you are making may not be relevant to your past course(s) or proposed future employment.
  • Do not work for hours more than what your student visa allows you to.
