Aged Care Course Overview

Aged Care course will prepare the candidate to work under supervision in variety of aged care facilities with clearly-defined accreditation standards and care plans. The candidate will help maintain clients' personal care and other activities and may even supervise junior workers. The qualification also enables lawful administration of medication.

Levels of Aged Care Courses Offered

Certificate III in Aged Care

This entry-level qualification equips the taker with the skills that are required to assist the elderly with their personal care and hygiene needs. This may include, but may not be limited to, assistance with providing social & emotional support and helping them maintain independence wherever possible in their daily lives. The course-taker will learn to understand healthy body systems and assist with medication administration, and support people with dementia and other concerning behaviours.

Certificate IV in Aged Care

This is an extension of Certificate III course. It will further equip the candidate with the skills to care for an elderly individual, including those who require complex management and special assistance. The course-taker will be able to work with groups of older people to promote independence and community participation, and liaise with health care professionals about the individuals in their care. The candidate may even, under supervision, design and implement programs that will increase the quality of life for the elderly in residential or community environments.
One must have completed Certificate III in Aged Care to enrol into this course.
