The parents can stay for up to five years at a time with the sponsored parent (temporary) visa (subclass 870). You must have been out of Australia for at least ninety days in order to apply for a subsequent Sponsored parent (Temporary) visa.
As a result, a parent may use the visa to enter the country for a maximum period of ten years. After that, they will not be able to renew their Sponsored Parent (Temporary) visa, due to which, they will have to leave the country or apply for a new visa that will allow them to stay.
Sponsorship and Its Eligibility Criteria
- Fulfil relationship requirements as per Australian standards.
- Hold Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
- Be an eligible New Zealand Citizen residing in the country for four years.
- Meet prior sponsorship obligations.
- Avoid negative or harmful information.
- Have no Commonwealth or public health debts in primary applicant’s name.
- Have a nominal household income to cover expenses during parents’ stay.
