What is NAATI?

NAATI – National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters is a non-government standards body that sets, maintains and promotes high professional quality assurance standards for those who seek to work as translators and interpreters in Australia.

This body frames schemes for certification, maintenance and promotion of translators and interpreters for organizations and markets that benefits from its NAATI services.

They provide certification for translators and interpreters.

The NAATI plays an important role as it sets the bar for employers seeking translators and interpreters.

The NAATI certification is a proof that translators and interpreters demonstrate an ability to meet high quality professional standards.

Why Do A NAATI Program?

Due to increased diversity and influx from around the world, there has been a growing demand for foreign languages, which has, in turn, created a host of job opportunities in the Australian market.

For How Many Languages NAATI Are Available?

NAATI currently offers accreditations for more than 60 languages. The NAATI scheme caters to employers and organizations where the services of translators and interpreters are in high demand.

In fact, NAATI is one of the best ways to enhance professional skills and offer high-quality services to various organizations.

Additionally, and more importantly, an individual with NAATI is awarded 5 (five) bonus points under Credentialed Community Language (CCL) points at the Paraprofessional level or above.

There are four ways to gain NAATI:

  • Sitting a NAATI assessment test
  • Passing a NAATI approved course
  • Providing evidence of a tertiary translating and interpreting qualification gained overseas
  • Providing evidence of advanced standing or international professional memberships

How To Prepare For NAATI And Tips To Clear A NAATI Exam?

If we go by the figures, only 10% to 12% people are able to pass the NAATI exam every year. There are instances where people take the NAATI exams more than once. Hence it is extremely important to prepare well and clear the exam successfully.

Another good way to prepare for the NAATI test is to take up a course or a program approved by NAATI in an Australian university. During the course or program, the student is guided and trained by experienced NAATI accredited professionals. This in turn, prepares the students for the toughest challenges of the NAATI examinations.

Steps To Obtain A NAATI (Certification) Through Approved Course Or Program
